KEEP YOUR GUT STRINGS DRY

Years ago I was playing a tournament in New England during a very hot and humid week. I was staying in a hotel without air conditioning. About 3 AM I heard a "ping" and a few minutes later another "ping." I had 2 racquets strung with gut and they both broke a string from the humidity. Because natural gut is biologic it is affected by moisture while other types of string are not. Keep your gut strings dry and store in an air conditioned room and not in your car or garage. You can spray a small amount of spray shellac on your strings after playing to help preserve them.
